The B.Ed. First Year English Optional students of NSS Training College, Ottapalam organized a Book Review Programme on the novel The Guide, a renowned work by R. K. Narayan. The programme was conducted on 16 October 2025 at 9:30 AM in the General Hall of the college.
The programme began with a prayer led by Rajalakshmi, Safeena C and Preena P This was followed by a warm welcome address and introduction. The session was compered by Meera Krishna, who guided the programme smoothly.
The book review was presented by Meera Krishna and Preena P who offered a detailed and insightful analysis of The Guide by R. K. Narayan. They discussed the central themes of the novel, including personal transformation, self-realization, faith, greed, and the conflict between material and spiritual life. The presenters also highlighted the author’s simple yet powerful language, realistic portrayal of Indian life, and his ability to convey deep emotions and values through ordinary experiences.
The review was widely appreciated by the audience for its clarity, critical insight, and engaging presentation. The programme provided the students with a deeper understanding of the novel and encouraged literary appreciation.
The event concluded with the National Anthem, marking a dignified end to the enlightening session.
