APP FOR THE WEEK PROGRAMME

 

INTRODUCTION

The Technology – The IT Club and Social Science Optional of N.S.S. Training College, Ottapalam, organised an “App for the Week” programme on 24 September 2026 at 9:30 a.m. in the General Hall. The programme focused on the creative and educational applications of Artificial Intelligence through AI-generated video and storybook creation. The programme was organised with the objective of familiarising student teachers with emerging AI tools and demonstrating how such technologies can be meaningfully incorporated into teaching and learning. The initiative provided practical exposure to digital tools and encouraged participants to explore their possibilities beyond conventional classroom practices.

PROGRAMME DETAILS

The programme began with a prayer by Manjima VC, Aswathi S D and Shamna V, followed by compering by Neethu V. The programme included presentations by Sreedivya M V and Devanarayanan M S, both from the Social Science Optional.

Presentation On Google Vids

Sreedivya M V presented Google Vids, an AI-supported video creation tool. As part of thedemonstration, she created an animated version of the story of the Hare and the Tortoise. The presentation showed how a familiar story can be transformed into an engaging visual narrative using digital technology. The demonstration highlighted the possibilities of using AI-generated videos to make classroom content more attractive, creative and interactive. It also illustrated how teachers can use storytelling and visual media to support better student engagement

Presentation On Gemini Storybook

Devanarayanan M S introduced Gemini Storybook and demonstrated its potential for creating personalised digital stories. He created a story based on Social Science classmates, making the presentation relatable and entertaining for the audience. He further demonstrated the creative possibilities of the tool by randomly selecting students from the audience and incorporating them into an imaginative story. This interactive element generated considerable interest and participation among the students and demonstrated how AI can be used to create personalised and engaging learning experiences.

EDUCATIONAL SIGNIFICANCE 

The demonstrations helped participants understand that AI tools can be used not only for entertainment but also for storytelling, content creation, classroom engagement and creative learning experiences. The programme provided student teachers with practical exposure to emerging digital technologies that can support innovative teaching practices. The session encouraged participants to think about how AI-generated videos and digital storybooks could be adapted for classroom activities, presentations, storytelling and other learning experiences.

OBJECTIVES 

• Introduce student teachers to AI-based creative applications.

• Demonstrate the use of AI in video and storybook creation.

• Encourage creativity and innovation in teaching and learning.

• Familiarise future teachers with emerging digital educational tools.

• Show how familiar academic and everyday topics can be presented through engaging digital stories.

OUTCOME

The programme created an opportunity for student teachers to explore the creative and educational possibilities of Artificial Intelligence. The practical demonstrations of Google Vids and Gemini Storybook helped participants understand how digital storytelling and AI-generated videos can transform ordinary stories and classroom ideas into engaging digital content. The interactive storytelling by Devanarayanan, particularly the creation of a story using randomly selected students from the audience, added an enjoyable and participatory dimension to the programme. The session also encouraged participants to consider practical ways of incorporating AI tools into future teaching practices

CONCLUSION 

The App for the Week – AI Generated Video and Storybook programme successfully provided student teachers with practical exposure to the creative use of Artificial Intelligence. Through the demonstrations of Google Vids and Gemini Storybook, the participants experienced how technology can transform ordinary stories and classroom ideas into engaging digital content. The programme served as a valuable step towards encouraging AI awareness, digital creativity and innovative teaching practices among future teachers. The event concluded with the National Anthem.

Thought for the Day

 A “Thought for the Day” programme was organized by the M.Ed. First Year students of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, on 14 September 2026 at 9:30 a.m. at the General Hall. The programme was conducted with the aim of inspiring students and promoting positive and meaningful thoughts in their daily lives.

The programme commenced with Prayer and Aacharayavandanam, presented by Manjusree K., Amritha P. and Krishnapriya N. This was followed by the compering by Priyanka M.

The Thought for the Day was presented by Arathi S. and Sukrutha T. S. The thought, “Education is not the filling of a vessel, but the awakening of a possibility,” highlighted the transformative nature of education and its role in awakening the potential of every learner.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem, creating a sense of unity, respect and patriotism among the participants.

Thought For The Day

 A “Thought for the Day” programme was organised by the B.Ed. First Year Malayalam students of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, on 10 September 2026 at 9:30 AM at the General Hall. The programme aimed to inspire students and encourage values of empathy, hope and social responsibility.

The programme began with a prayer rendered by Fathima Hanna, Amsuri K.S. and Athira K. Amrutha K.M. served as the compere and coordinated the proceedings.

The thought for the day was presented by Subin U. and Najiya Thasneem. The theme focused on opening our hearts to the pain and struggles of others and becoming a source of hope and light. The message encouraged everyone to respond to the difficulties of others with compassion, understanding and positivity.

College Assembly y

 A College Assembly was organized by the B.Ed. First Year Natural Science students of N.S.S. Training College, Ottapalam, on Wednesday, 9 September 2026 at 9:30 a.m. at the College Auditorium. 

The assembly began with a prayer, presented by Adithya V., Aparna A. and Sujinat T., creating a calm and positive atmosphere. This was followed by the News Reading by Nandana Krishna N, who presented important current affairs.

The Pledge was led by Nidha E.K., reminding the students of their responsibilities and commitment as future teachers. Rajiyya C.P. presented the Thought of the Day, which provided the students with an inspiring message for the day.

The programme continued with the Anchor session, conducted by Geethu K, who coordinated the different segments of the assembly smoothly. The assembly concluded with the National Anthem, instilling a sense of patriotism and unity among the participants.

A “Thought for the Day” programme was organized by the B.Ed. First Year English students of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, on Tuesday, 8 September 2026, at 9:30 a.m. in the General Hall.The programme commenced with a prayer presented by Gayathri M.J., Ardhra M. and Vipin K.V. The session was then coordinated by Rabeea, who served as the comperer.

The main highlight of the programme was the presentation of the Thought for the Day by Aiswarya U.N. and Anirudhan P. The thought selected for the day was:

“The mind is not a vessel to be filled, but a fire to be kindled.” — Plutarch

The quotation conveyed an important message about the purpose of education. It emphasized that education should not merely involve filling students with information, but should encourage curiosity, critical thinking, creativity and the desire to learn. The message was particularly meaningful for prospective teachers, reminding them of their responsibility to inspire learners and nurture their intellectual potential.

The programme concluded with the National Anthem, marking the formal closing of the session.
