Time: 09:30 AM
Venue: General Hall
The B.Ed. English Optional students of NSS Training College, Ottapalam, successfully organised a Book Review Programme on "Atomic Habits" by James Clear on 8 August 2025 at 9:30 a.m. in the General Hall.
Programme Schedule and Highlights
The event commenced with a prayer and Acharyavandanam rendered by Meera and Sneha P.
Compeering: The programme was smoothly anchored by Meera Krishna K.
Topic Presentation:
The main presentation was delivered by Krishnapriya C.K. and Rajlaxmi K, who explained how slight changes in our daily habits can lead to remarkable transformations in life, drawing insights from Atomic Habits.
The review began with an introduction to the author, highlighting James Clear’s expertise in habit formation and personal development. The central message of the book—that small, consistent changes lead to remarkable results—was clearly articulated.
The presenters elaborated on the Four Laws of Behaviour Change outlined in the book:
1. Make it obvious – Clearly identify the habit you wish to develop.
2. Make it attractive – Link habits to positive emotions or rewards.
3. Make it easy – Reduce friction and simplify the process.
4. Make it satisfying – Reinforce habits with a sense of accomplishment.
Real-life examples and relatable scenarios were used to illustrate how these principles can be applied in daily life—ranging from improving study routines to embracing healthier lifestyles. The presentation also touched upon the concept of compound growth of habits, showing how tiny, consistent improvements each day can lead to significant long-term changes
Acknowledgment
The programme was conducted under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) Lekshmi V., Teacher-in-Charge, and presided over by Prof. (Dr.) Smitha R., Principal-in-Charge.
The session concluded with a reminder that success is rarely the result of massive overnight changes, but rather the outcome of small, consistent actions repeated over time. The audience was encouraged to reflect on their personal habits and to begin implementing at least one small positive change immediately.
